Silicon Valley and Finnish equity crowdfunding to join forces – San Francisco Angel Investor of the Year invests in startup Invesdor

Manny Fernandez, a leading San Francisco angel investor has invested in Finnish equity and debt crowdfunding platform Invesdor. Invesdor will subsequently form an alliance with San Francisco-based equity crowdfunding platform DreamFunded.com. The investment was announced during the conference Slush.

“The crowdfunding market is growing rapidly on a global level. We are creating a strong funding structure by building a bridge between Europe and Silicon Valley”, states DreamFunded.com co-founder and CEO Manny Fernandez. Fernandez has just invested an undisclosed amount in Finnish equity and debt crowdfunding platform Invesdor.

“We are thrilled to have Manny (Fernandez) on-board as an investor and are looking forward to the relationship with DreamFunded”, says Invesdor co-founder and CEO Lasse Mäkelä.

In addition to being the CEO of San Francisco-based equity crowdfunding platform DreamFunded, Manny Fernandez is also founder and President of SF Angels Group, an invite-only, 32-angel investor group based in San Francisco. Fernandez received the San Francisco Angel Investor of the year award in 2014.

Invesdor and DreamFunded.com are building an alliance whose goal is to bring investors and capital from Silicon Valley and Europe closer to each other. The alliance will provide both European and American investors access to high growth companies in both Europe and America. It was agreed that Fernandez will be appointed as an advisor to Invesdor.

“Title III of the JOBS act, which was recently approved by the SEC, opens doors for US-based investors to invest in private growth companies. The relationship between us and DreamFunded will capitalize on this and result in many cross-promotion possibilities, which will ultimately benefit investors and growth companies on both continents,” says Mäkelä.
